The Mountain Green Guardians project is a transformative initiative targeting three rural communities around Bunda Mountain, Nkhoma Mountain, and Ngala ya Pakamwa Mountain in Lilongwe, Malawi. These areas, characterized by similar mountainous landscapes and agricultural activities, face significant challenges due to increased mountain tourism. Our project aims to address these challenges by empowering local communities to restore and manage their mountain landscapes sustainably.

We focus on involving 1,000 youth from these communities, providing them with the tools and knowledge needed to restore 200 hectares of degraded land. Through ecological restoration and sustainable management practices, we aim to restore the natural functions of these mountain ecosystems. The project also includes educational components to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable tourism and environmental stewardship. By engaging the youth, we hope to foster a generation of environmental guardians committed to preserving their natural heritage.
